Materials, Thickness and Finishing

MaterialsCarbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum and galvanized sheet, selected according to structure, environment and finish.

Sheet ThicknessSpecified by drawing and forming requirements. Available range depends on part size, material, process and equipment review.

Surface FinishesPowder coating, industrial painting, anodizing, galvanizing, brushing and polishing where appropriate for the selected material.

Manufacturing FilesPDF plus DWG/DXF or STEP/STP is preferred. IGS and approved samples can also support project review.

Engineering Details That Make an Enclosure Production-Ready

Functional Openings

Cutouts for connectors, displays, fans, switches, cable glands and service access are reviewed against assembly requirements.

Bending & Assembly

Bend radii, hems, tabs, welds, rivets, PEM hardware, hinge mounts and removable panels are considered during DFM.

Powder-Coating Details

Color, texture, cosmetic faces, masking zones, grounding points and coating-sensitive threads should be identified on the drawing.

Fit & Inspection

Critical mounting dimensions, door gaps, mating surfaces and assembly interfaces are checked against agreed drawing criteria.

Ingress protection is a design-and-test requirement. If an IP rating is needed, specify the target rating, gasket, hardware, cable entries and validation requirements. A powder-coated box alone should not be assumed to meet a particular IP level.

DFM & Quotation

Review cutting, bending, welding, hardware, coating, assembly and inspection needs.

Prototype Approval

Check dimensions, mounting fit, door or panel operation, appearance and agreed functional details.

Repeat Production

Manufacture against approved drawings and samples, followed by specified inspection, packing and shipping preparation.
